Context and methodology

  • This repository contains the low-temperature specific heat data behind Figure 5 in the publication "Neutron scattering and thermodynamic evidence for emergent photons and fractionalization in a pyrochlore spin ice" (10.1038/s41567-025-02922-9).
  • The publication presents and discusses polarized neutron scattering experiments and heat capacity measurements on single crystals of the Ce2Zr2O7 pyrochlore, and compares the results with theoretical calculations.
  • This dataset was created manually by collecting and ordering the relevant data.

Technical details

  • Data files are of type DAT (text files) and named logically after the figure they correspond to. 
  • The dataset does not require any specific software for reading.

Description of the data

  • fig5.dat contains the specific heat ("C") of Ce2Zr2O7 with an error bar ("C_error") as a function of temperature ("T") with an error bar ("T_error") together with a fit ("T^3 fit") corresponding to a cubic-in-temperature specific heat.
